How to do a Gigi Hadid slicked back look with hair extensions
Who doesn’t love Gigi Hadid? Kendall Jenner’s BFF is not only a stunningly beautiful supermodel, but she also happens to be surprisingly normal. And nice. And she has sensational hair.
Now, we might not all look quite as amazing as she does in a swimsuit (damn you cake/crisps/wine!) but we can all create her signature slicked back hair style! Our favourite hair expert, Alex, is back with one of her fab videos to show us how.
So what are you waiting for? Go get your equipment together…
You’ll need

-
Sectioning comb with a long tail

Fine tooth comb for backcombing

Ready? Let’s go.
Clip your hair extensions in
If you’re a hair extensions newbie don’t worry, Miss Alex has got how to clip your wefts in covered in her first video. Just check that out and then head back here for the rest of the look.
Obviously you can choose any shade you like for this style and it’s got to work with your natural hair, but if you want to make the look as close to Gigi’s as possible then Alex’s choice of the #18/90 shade from the ombre collection is perfect.
Clip in a full head of hair extensions as you normally would, leaving a layer of hair at the top of your head to cover your extensions.
Straighten it out
Once you’ve clipped all of your extensions in you need to get your hair as straight and smooth as possible.
Start by brushing through your hair and then grab your straighteners. Make sure you’re running them over both your natural hair and your extensions until everything’s looking silky and sleek.
Backcombing time!
Now your hair is poker straight, it’s time to get that slicked back Gigi look.
Take your sectioning comb and and section the top layer of your natural hair, starting at the back of your head. Backcomb this section by pushing your comb gently towards at the root while holding the hair in a backwards-flowing direction. Then repeat with the section in front until you’ve backcombed right to the front of your hair line. Check out the video for a better idea of just how much backcombing you need to do.
Now backcomb the side sections around the front of your face as well.
Hairspray everything in place. Don’t worry, this isn’t the finished look!
Smooth your look
It’s time to smooth things over. Take your brush and gently smooth over the backcombed hair. If any strands fall out don’t panic, just take your comb and backcomb it back in the right place.
Tuck hair behind your ears and then put a small amount of serum on your hands and smooth it over your hair. If you want to go super smooth, you can also use a smoothing spray like Alex does.
Who’s that in the mirror? Why it’s Gigi Hadid’s long lost twin!
